Ryan Johnson has always lived with one foot in the real world and the other in the landscape of imagination. Born and raised in Pennsylvania, he carried that creative spark with him across each place he’s called home. After studying American Sign Language Interpretation in Rochester, NY, he built a career that has woven together communication, storytelling, and leadership in ways that continue to shape his work today.
A lifelong writer, Ryan published his first novel, Group Therapy, in 2002. His storytelling continued to evolve over the years, ultimately leading to the 2024 release of The Heart of the Carol, an original holiday poem that readers praised for capturing the warmth and spirit of the season. What began as a single poem has since grown into a fully realized book delving into a world of characters, places, and traditions that expands the gentle magic at the poem’s core.
Ryan’s next major work, ECHO (arriving in 2026) shifts into a different realm entirely: a contemporary, high-stakes police-procedural world filled with layered characters, moral complexity, and the kind of slow-burn tension that rewards patient readers.
Beyond writing, Ryan is a consultant with experience in marketing across oil & gas, retail, healthcare, and small business environments. He also coaches teams and leaders in staff development and brings a warm, conversational style to public speaking engagements.
Today, Ryan lives in Cypress, TX with his wife, Rachel, and their three daughters, Kierstin, Hayley, and Riley, who remain his greatest inspirations and the heart behind every story he brings to life.
